PRAYER

Our prayer mission is to infuse our church with passion for prayer, to express prayer in multiple ways and to support our church and community with prayer.  We have completed '40 Days of Prayer and Fasting' concluding in a 10 hour prayer vigil and prayer service.  We have had 2 additional prayer vigils with prayer services.  Our Pastor, Keith Turman, has had several 'Pastor's Day of Prayer'.  The Prayer Room is open whenever the church is open and has seasonal changes.  We will have one more prayer vigil and the Prayer Room will be set up for Advent soon.  Please call Karen Rohrer for further information.

LITURGIST MINISTRY

This is the easiest ministry you could possibly tap into.  Liturgy (literally meaning, "The work of the people," is the meat and potatoes of any worship service.  Each Sunday, the designated liturgist leads the congregation in the call to worship by reciting poetry, facilitating responsive readings, psalters, etc. They are also the ones to read the scripture before the sermon is preached.  While the material is usually pre-planned by the music director, the liturgist may work his or her own creativity into the mix.  It is a great way to get involved with minimal input.  Merely your passion and voice are all that is required.   Additional Liturgist are always welcome.  Please contact Monte' Sorrells for futher information.

DEAF MINISTRY

Our newest ministry of our church is beginning to take shape.  The goal of this ministry is to establish a means of discovering a knowledge and relationship with Christ and the Bible for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.  We also need a good interpreter to enable people to understand worship services and help them feel a part of the congregation.  We are currently working on grants to help fund the ministry.  Upcoming plans are to invite interested groups to our church to get to know them.  We have recently had the deaf choir from Long's Chapel UMC to sing/sign at worship service.  They also helped with a community meeting to get input on ideas for deaf worship/other activities. We are also looking for members to learn ASL sign language.  Meeting times for planning are as needed and interested people can get in touch with Diane Rutledge.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES -meet at 9:45 am on Sundays.

The Awareness Sunday School Class meets in the Library and is always open to new members.  Recently we have studied the "Bad Girls of the Bible" and are currently studying with the pastor (with a larger group) on John Ortberg's "When the game is over, it all goes back in the box".  We also help with Chow dinner, fellowship coffee, and RITI dinner.  We are currently a small group of 6 women but would love to grow and expand so give us a try!

The Aldersgate Sunday School Class works to discover how to live as Christians while learning more about the Bible through a variety of resources and lively discussions involving family and community.  We are supportive of each other and are actively engaged at working within and outside of the church through different missions and programs.  Some of our programs include contributions to CCC, Ingle's cards to school children at Christmas, CHOW dinners, ABCCM and Habitat for Humanity home-building.  We are active members engaged in several church and community activities.  Please call Diane Rutledge for more information.

The Senior High Sunday School Class works to develop a close relationship with God and one another, and to create a foundation that will help us to stand firm in our faith and lead our hearts and minds.  Currently we are studying the book of Proverbs, gaining insight into acquiring Biblical wisdom to help us in our day to day decision making.  All senior high students are welcome.  We meet in the blue house across the parking lot.  Call Jan Elingburg for more information.
